job responsibilties
Design and implement comprehensive estate planning strategies, ensuring asset preservation, tax efficiency, and smooth wealth transfer across generations.
•Prepare and review legal documents, including asset and investment documentation, wills, trusts, and family agreements, ensuring they are legally binding and aligned with client objectives.
•Draft family constitutions, family policies, and governance frameworks that address family values, conflict resolution, and decision-making processes.
•Stay informed about and ensure compliance with all Nigerian laws, regulations, and tax codes as they relate to family wealth, estate planning, and asset management.
•Provide legal advisory services to client families on matters related to family businesses, succession, governance, and conflict resolution.
•RiIdentify and mitigate potential legal and compliance risks associated with asset holding structures, investment strategies, and family governance frameworks.
Establish trusted relationships with clients, working closely to understand their objectives and provide counsel on structuring and managing their family wealth.
•Work closely with the wealth management, tax, and investment teams to deliver integrated and holistic solutions for our clients.
•Regularly update knowledge and expertise regarding Nigerian legal developments relevant to family wealth and estate planning.
requirements
•LL.B (Bachelor of Laws) from an accredited institution; a Master’s in Law (LL.M) or relevant certification is a plus.
•Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in estate planning, family business law, or related areas, with a strong background in Nigerian legal practices.
•Professional Certification: Membership in the Nigerian Bar Association is required.
•Exceptional knowledge of Nigerian legal regulations, especially related to family businesses, inheritance law, and estate planning.
•Proven expertise in drafting legal documents and family governance policies.
•Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
•Excellent writing, communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
•Ability to manage multiple client relationships and projects simultaneously.
