• Develop and implement the creative research strategy for the academy, in alignment with its mission and long-term goals. • Provide leadership and guidance to faculty and researchers in conducting impactful and innovative research projects. • Establish and nurture relationships with industry partners, creative professionals, organizations, educational institutions, community organizations, regulatory and government bodies, and other academic institutions to foster collaborations, internships, and research opportunities. • Identify and secure external funding and grants to support research projects and initiatives. Lead the research team and academic faculty to develop compelling proposals and ensure compliance with funding requirements. • Oversee the planning, execution, and successful completion of research projects, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards. • Provide guidance and support to researchers and students involved in research activities. • Actively seek partnerships and collaborations that enhance the academy’s reputation, expand its reach, and provide valuable opportunities for its workforce. • Ensure the protection and management of intellectual property arising from academic and research activities, including patent applications, copyright, and licensing agreements. • Advocate for the academy’s interests and contribute to the development of policies and regulations that impact the creative education sector in Africa. • Facilitate and foster collaborative research projects within the academy and with external partners. Encourage interdisciplinary collaboration and knowledge exchange among faculty, researchers, students and alumni. • Lead and mentor a team of research professionals, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities. Foster a culture of creativity, collaboration, and excellence within the research department.
We are seeking a highly-skilled, agile and intelligent individual to join our team as the Head, Creative Research and Enterprise. You will be responsible for leading and overseeing development and implementation of creative research initiatives and fostering industry partnerships. • A Ph.D. in design thinking, international relations, international management or a relevant field, such as creative arts, design, or a related discipline. • Proven experience in leading and managing creative research initiatives, preferably in an academic or research institution. • Strong knowledge of research methodologies, grant writing, and project management. • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain industry partnerships, fostering collaborations and research opportunities. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders, including industry professionals, faculty, and students. • Strong leadership and team management abilities, with a focus on fostering a supportive and collaborative research environment. • Experience in securing external funding and managing research budgets. • Knowledge of intellectual property rights, ethics, and compliance related to research activities. • Familiarity with industry trends and emerging technologies in the creative field. • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and drive innovation. • Proficiency in research dissemination through publications, presentations, and other knowledge-sharing platforms. • Good understanding of academic operations and familiarity with curriculum development and delivery.
